When couples or individuals are embarking on a journey to parenthood that includes a surrogate they are investing significant time energy and expense in the process. The collective intention for these experiences for a positive outcome for all. My role is to ensure the health safety and well-being of all involved.

These consultations typically happen in three parts. First, I meet with the intended parents for a consultation that I typically describe a psychological informed consent. It is very important consultation as it lends itself also in my evaluation of the identified gestational carrier and her partner.

The next meeting is with the gestational carrier and her partner, if she has one. This interview is aided by a psychometric test that is a factor in determining potential risks for the carrier and her family.

Finally, I meet with the gestational carrier, her partner, and the intended parents in the cohort meeting. This is the final component of the psychological assessment.

These consultations may be covered by insurance; the intended parents are billed directly for services rendered and provided with documentation to submit claims to the insurance provider. Prepared reports are for clinical use only and will be sent directly to the medical center or agency managing the treatment.
